Joe Levin is a graduate fellow in the Alushin lab, studying how mechanical forces functionally and structurally affect the actin cytoskeleton and its attendant proteins. He develops biophysical and microscopy tools to apply forces to proteins and see how their behavior changes. Outside of his own lab work, Joe is heavily involved in science education and communication through the RockEDU JumpStart program, where he works with talented high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
